iDealTrade is free for investors. Borrowers pay a transaction fee, currently 5 basis points (0.05%), with invoices issued quarterly.

  • Can I use iDealTrade for more than one authority?

Yes. The platform supports users dealing on behalf of multiple authorities, subject to the appropriate permissions.

Indicative Rates and Market Information
  • What are indicative interest rates?

iDealTrade provides indicative borrowing and lending rates across different maturities, helping users understand prevailing market pricing before placing an order.

  • Are indicative rates guaranteed?

No. Indicative rates are provided for guidance only and do not represent firm offers to borrow or lend. Actual transaction rates depend on the orders available on the platform and the terms agreed between counterparties.

  • How can I use indicative rates?

Indicative rates can help you assess potential borrowing costs or investment returns, compare different maturities and identify suitable rates when placing orders.

  • What is the difference between indicative rates and rates shown in the order book?

Indicative rates provide a reference point for market pricing. Rates displayed against active orders in the order book represent firm bids or offers, subject to matching and the platform's counterparty approval process.

Placing and Managing Orders
  • How does trading on iDealTrade work?

iDealTrade matches compatible borrowing and lending orders based on their terms. Once matched, the investor approves the borrowing counterparty before the trade is confirmed.

What is the difference between a bid and an offer?

• Bid: An instruction to borrow money.

• Offer: An instruction to lend or invest money.

• Order book: The list of unmatched borrowing and lending orders.

• Trade: A confirmed transaction between a borrower and an investor.

  • Are orders on iDealTrade binding?

Yes. Bids and offers placed on the order book are firm orders. Once a trade is matched and the required counterparty approval is completed, the transaction is binding.

  • Can I negotiate the terms of an order?

Yes. The counter-offer function allows users to propose alternative terms to an existing order. The other party can accept, reject or suggest further changes.

  • Can I borrow or lend only part of an advertised amount?

Yes. iDealTrade supports partial order fills, allowing compatible transactions to proceed for less than the full amount advertised, subject to the order's conditions.

  • Can I arrange a transaction with a future start date?

Yes. iDealTrade supports forward dealing, enabling users to agree transactions ahead of their settlement date.

  • Can I change or cancel an order?

Yes. Unmatched orders can be amended or cancelled through your dashboard. Once a trade has been confirmed, it cannot be cancelled unilaterally. Contact iDealTrade support immediately if an error has occurred.

  • How long do unmatched orders remain active?

Users can select an expiry period for orders placed on the platform, and unmatched orders can remain active for up to one year.

Rolling Over Existing Loans
  • Can I roll over an existing loan on iDealTrade?

Yes. iDealTrade includes a rollover function designed to simplify the process of arranging a new loan when an existing transaction approaches maturity.

  • How does the rollover button work?

The rollover button provides a convenient starting point for arranging a replacement transaction using details from an existing loan, reducing the need to enter information again.

Any replacement transaction remains subject to the applicable trading and counterparty approval requirements.

  • Does rolling over a loan automatically extend the existing agreement?

No. A rollover should be treated as a replacement transaction, rather than an automatic extension of the original loan. The new transaction must be agreed on its own terms.

Counterparties and Security
  • Are trades anonymous?

Yes. Orders are displayed anonymously. When a match occurs, the investor is shown the borrower's identity and can approve or reject the counterparty. The borrower is informed of the investor's identity once the trade is confirmed.

  • Can I restrict which authorities I lend to?

Yes. Investors can manage restricted counterparties through their account settings, preventing orders from matching with authorities they do not wish to lend to.

  • Can I reject a borrower after an order has matched?

Yes. Investors currently have up to 4 hours to approve or reject a matched borrower. Users should maintain their restricted counterparty lists to minimise unnecessary rejections.

  • Is iDealTrade secure?

Yes. iDealTrade uses encrypted connections, two-factor authentication (2FA), controlled user access and regular security testing to protect users and transactions. Standard Settlement Instructions are subject to an authorisation process, including dual approval. Authorities should continue to follow their own internal security and treasury controls.

  • Is iDealTrade regulated?

iDealTrade is owned and operated by Arlingclose Ltd, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Arlingclose has also published its commitment to the UK Money Markets Code.

  • Do local authorities need to opt up under MiFID II to use iDealTrade?

No. Inter-authority lending transactions facilitated by iDealTrade do not require authorities to have opted up to professional client status under MiFID II.

Settlement, Records and Support
  • How is interest calculated and paid?

Interest is calculated using the actual number of days. For loans of less than one year, interest is normally paid at maturity. For longer loans, interest is paid annually and at maturity, in accordance with the applicable transaction terms.

  • How are transactions settled?

Funds are transferred directly between the participating authorities, outside the platform. Each authority is responsible for completing settlement in accordance with the agreed terms and its internal treasury procedures.

  • Where can I find my completed transactions?

All completed transactions are available in the Trade History section, together with confirmation documents that can be downloaded or printed.

  • Can iDealTrade connect to my Treasury Management System?

iDealTrade does not currently offer a direct interface with Treasury Management Systems. Integration options remain under review.
